Preschool Curriculum
Bible:
Stories of Bible characters-how they lived, how their life relates
to ours-sharing, helping, loving, obeying. Learning about God and
His love for us. Stories of Jesus' life and how He helps us. Stories
for children, families, animals, fictional characters who teach us
how to learn to live together. Learning to pray-thanking God for
the day, for our families, friends, school, food, for our world.
Memorization of simple Bible verses.
Music:
Children's songs, nursery rhymes, silly songs, Bible songs, tapes,
records, Children's music videos, musical instruments, dance movement
and exercise, musical circle games.
Art:
Experimenting with many different textures, materials, colors, and
tools to create our "own" work of art. Discovering our
own natural creative ability. Learning colors and what happens when
you mix colors. Take-home projects and in class experiences, such
as clay painting with watercolors, chalkboard drawing.
Language:
Story time, listening skills, sharing our thoughts and experiences
with others, nursery rhymes, fairytales, books of all kinds, puppets,
flannel-graph, tapes, singing, programs, visiting storytellers.
Pre-Reading:
Alphabet recognition, charts, games, songs.
Pre-Math:
Counting objects, charts, games, songs.
Health & Safety:
Body parts, five senses, good health habits, taking care of ourselves.
Earthquake & fire drills.
Social Studies:
Learning about ourselves, our families, our community, people in other
lands.ScienceLearning about our natural environment, animals, birds,
weather.
Large Motor Skills:
B ikes, climbing bars, balls, slide, sand and sand toys, climbing,
running, jumping, active play.
Small Motor Skills:
Clay and manipulative games, puzzles, art and craft projects, toys,
counting games, touch-and-see, investigative projects, matching,
lacing, blocks.
Dramatic Play:
stage and microphone, acting out stories, imaginative play, make-believe,
role-modeling adults.
Spatial Concepts:
Up, down, over, under, in, out. Sizes, relationships, shapes
