Serving God in Our Generation
SCRIPTURE
"Now when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed." Acts 13:36 (NIV)
When most people think about David, they remember the giant he defeated, the battles he won, or the kingdom he led. Yet when Paul reflected on David's life in Acts 13, he summarized it with a simple statement: David served God's purpose in his generation.
That should encourage all of us. God is not measuring our lives by how famous, powerful, or successful we become. He is looking for faithfulness. David certainly wasn't perfect, but he remained committed to God's plan for his life. He understood that his story was part of God's greater story.
The same is true for you. God has placed you in this generation, in this family, workplace, church, and community for a reason. You don't have to have all the answers or accomplish something spectacular. You simply need to say yes to God and faithfully take the next step He places before you.
A life devoted to God's purposes will always have lasting impact, even when the results are not immediately visible.

PRAYER:
Father, thank You for placing me in this generation according to Your purpose. Help me focus less on worldly measures of success and more on faithful obedience to You. Show me how You want to use my life, and give me the courage to follow where You lead. In Jesus' name, Amen.
