This weekend, we wrapped up Cathedral at the Movies by looking at the story of Deborah in the book of Judges. In a difficult time for God’s people, when the roads were deserted, villages were afraid, and the enemy seemed too powerful, Deborah rose up. She did not allow the limits of her culture, the fear of the moment, or the strength of the enemy to keep her from obeying God. The message reminded us that God is the ultimate Hero of every story, but He has also placed something heroic inside of us. We may not wear capes or have superpowers, but we are called to rise up in faith, courage, and obedience. Like Deborah, we can rise above the limits placed on us, rise beyond what we see in front of us, and help others rise up too.
